KUALA LUMPUR, April 23 — Universiti Malaya has appointed Prof Dr Yang Faridah Abdul Aziz – who formerly chaired the Medical Education Committee (MEC) at the Malaysian Medical Council (MMC) – as Dean of its Faculty of Medicine.

Dr Yang Faridah’s appointment as dean at the top public university is effective from yesterday, April 22, until December 31, 2027, according to an announcement by Universiti Malaya’s Faculty of Medicine.

Dr Yang Faridah, a consultant radiologist who chaired the MEC from 2020 to 2023, replaced Prof Dr April Camilla Roslani, who was abruptly removed as Dean of the Faculty of Medicine last March 18, three months into her three-year reappointment beginning December 2023.

Universiti Malaya did not provide a statement for CodeBlue’s previous requests for comment on Dr April’s removal.
