Semi collides with school bus in northeast Nebraska

Emergency crews are on the scene of an accident involving a semi truck and a school bus near Osmond, Nebraska.

According to News Channel Nebraska, local rescue got a call about a semi rear ending a school bus just after 3 p.m. on Highway 20 just east of Osmond.

Officials said the bus was stopped at a railroad crossing when the semi came over the hill and hit the bus. The semi then swerved into a ditch.

Three students sustained injuries according to the Nebraska State Patrol. Two were taken to Osmond General Hospital for treatment. One was taken by LifeNet to Nebraska Medicine. None of the injuries appear to be life-threatening.

There were 25 students and one driver on the bus at the time of the crash.

The bus involved is from Boyd County Public Schools. The driver of the bus, Larry Eilers, 60, of Lynch was not injured.

The driver of the semi, Allen Lambrecht, 62, of Beemer was also uninjured

The crash is still under investigation.
