Louisiana wealth management firm opens Mississippi office

Ruston-based Argent Financial Group has moved into the Mississippi market by opening an office in Oxford.

The independent wealth management company said Tuesday it opened the office for Argent Trust Company and its Argent Family Wealth Services division. The office is in a National Historic Landmark building at 613 S. Lamar Blvd. and will accommodate a larger staff to provide wealth management services, a news release said.

Family Wealth Services managing director Mark Hartnett will lead the expanded team and focus on further growing Argent’s presence in Mississippi. Harnett founded Family Wealth Practices in Oxford in 2008 and merged his company with Argent in 2014.

Joining him at the new office are Brooks Campany, vice president and director of public relations, recruiting, engagement and culture for Argent Financial Group; and Blair Hull, associate of philanthropic services for Argent Institutional Services. The company also hired Austin McCarty for the position of trust assistant.

“Our family has been a regular visitor to Oxford and has made deep connections over the past 15 years. As we watched Oxford grow, it became evident that the time was right for us to open an Argent Trust office and provide a wider array of client services beyond what Mark was already successfully providing,” said Kyle McDonald, CEO of Argent.

It is the only office in Mississippi for the company, which manages $19 billion client assets and was recently named to the Inc. 5000 list of the fastest-growing companies in the U.S. Argent is located in 11 other states across the South.
