FORT PIERCE – Virginia College in Fort Pierce will host a Community Health Fair from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Thursday, June 21 at the campus, 2810 S. Federal Hwy.

The event is free and open to the public and will feature refreshments, a variety of health-related checks and activities, including healthy cooking demonstrations, blood pressure checks, blood sugar checks, campus tours and information on how to read a physician’s medical receipts led by the Medical Billing and Coding program.

Additionally, the campus will hold a blood drive on site for those interested in and able to give blood. Attendees 18 and older can enter to win a pair of Jabra Elite 65t True Wireless Earbuds in addition to other prizes.

The event is part of Virginia College parent company Education Corp. of America’s national Community Health Fair events being held at 59 other Brightwood College, Brightwood Career Institute and Virginia College locations throughout 17 states.

“With summertime often comes a reminder to get outside and a renewed motivation for healthy living,” says Campus President Dennis Corrado. “We are always grateful for the opportunity to support our Fort Pierce community, and this June, we're excited to host the community while promoting something we are all passionate about here at Virginia College—personal health.

"As a campus," he said, "we are dedicated to encouraging one another as well as our neighbors toward healthy choices, and we hope everyone will join us to take a step toward a healthy lifestyle.”

The event will also allow attendees to explore programs offered through Virginia College, including business administration, culinary arts, medical assistant, medical billing and coding, pastry arts and pharmacy technician.
