Talal Abu-Ghazaleh, Pharmacy One Sign Agreement to Provide Sales Tax Refund Service for Tourists, Non-Resident Jordanians

Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Organization (TAG-Org) and Pharmacy One Group signed a partnership agreement to provide a “sales tax refund” service for tourists and non-resident Jordanians who are resident outside of Jordan. 

HE Dr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh, in collaboration with Dr. Youssef Fanous, Pharmacy One Group CEO, signed the agreement which will be registered in the Network of Accredited Traders, for the purposes of refunding  sales tax implemented by TAG-Org.

TAG-Org provides a “sales tax refund” service on purchases made by tourists and non-resident Jordanians,  during their visits to Jordan. 

Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh welcomed Pharmacy One Group to the network of accredited traders offering tax refunds, an initiative which contributes effectively to the  promotion of tourism in Jordan, as well as encourages tourists and visitors to do more shopping. He asserted the importance of providing such a service which may also be beneficial to medical tourism.

Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh stressed the importance of Pharmacy One Group in providing medical supplies on a wide scale in the Kingdom, while maintaining high quality and a distinctive level of service. He praised the management for its excellence in terms of the company’s presence across the Kingdom; as well as its plans for expansion abroad, pointing out that the Group operates a network of 100 offices expanding across the world, the services of which can be utilized  to achieve further expansion in any country. 

Dr. Fanous expressed his gratitude to Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh, stating that the branches of Pharmacy One Group cover 80 sites across the Kingdom; in addition to their presence in several Gulf countries. He affirmed that his Group Management seeks further expansion, and  is willing to cooperate with TAG-Org in different potential areas, especially in the promotion of “sales tax refund” service.

It was agreed that the appointment of a company representative to participate in the Food and Drugs Committee at Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Knowledge Forum will be a contributing factor in the analysis of the problems faced by the pharmaceutical sector in Jordan, and aid in finding solutions and suggestions for this sector that serves all segments of society. 

Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Sales Tax Refund service covers two directions simultaneously; the first is to provide tourists and non-resident Jordanians with the correct refund procedures. When leaving Jordan, buyers will be able to refund the value of the sales tax imposed on their purchases, provided that they remain outside the Kingdom for a period of more than 183 days during the 12 months following the date of departure from the Kingdom. The second direction is the network traders, accredited to provide “sales tax refund” service.

The accredited trader shall be granted the right to complete a refund request on behalf of the the purchaser (visitor or non-resident Jordanian), by following a number of steps including data entry, clear description of purchases on the invoice and tax refund form, affirming that the buyer has paid for his purchases and received them, in addition to providing the buyer with a manual explaining the instructions and requirements for a  tax refund, and informing the buyer that the tax refund is related to taking the purchases outside Jordan and obtaining Jordanian Customs approval. The buyer is then informed about his right to refund the sales tax if the total value of the paid tax exceeds JD50, at shops registered in the network of accredited traders, and this transaction should be conducted within 90 days of the purchase date.
