Kramer Laboratories announced it is recalling about 14,250 packages of its Safetussin Max Strength Multi-Symptom Cough, Cold and Flu medicine packs.
The company is issuing the recall because the packages are not child-resistant, since a tablet can easily be pushed through the foil, posing a risk of poisoning if its contents are swallowed by young children.
The medicine contains acetaminophen, which must be in child-resistant packaging, as required by the Poison Prevention Packaging Act, the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) said.
The recall involves Safetussin Max Strength Multi-Symptom Cough, Cold and Flu 24 count caplet blister packs. They say with “Safetussin,” “Multi-Symptom,” “Cough, Cold & Flu” and “Safe for adults with High Blood Pressure, Diabetes” on the packaging. They were sold in a blue, orange and red cardboard box.
The medicine was sent to regional grocery stores and independently owned pharmacies nationwide between July 2024 and March 2025. The cost was about $11.
Anyone who bought this product should immediately put it out of the sight and reach of children and contact Kramer Laboratories for information on how to return or dispose of it for a full refund. Only the packaging is being recalled, not the medicine, but both should be disposed, the CPSC said.
