
FREEPORT, Ill (WREX) – Freeport Police arrest a man with multiple warrants after he led police on a foot chase Thursday night.
Freeport Police responded to the 600 block of W. Pleasant Street after receiving a call from a homeowner who said a man was hiding in the yard.
Once on the scene, officers found the man and tried to make contact with him. The man then ran from officers, leading them to a short foot pursuit. The man was then arrested and has since been identified as 20-year-old Zachary Schaney.
Officers searched the area and Schaney and found a loaded pistol and different prescription medication including suspected codeine and pain medication.
Schaney was arrested for having outstanding warrants for his arrest from pending cases in Stephenson County.
Schaney faces charges including armed violence, unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon, and unlawful possession of a controlled substance.
