A man caught with drugs, a stun gun and a dagger in his flat has been jailed for more than eight years.
Gary Harkins was held after police received an anonymous call about a disturbance at the property in Greenfield in Glasgow’s East End, on July 21.
The 45-year-old was there with another man and initially refused access to officers.
But, after they had to force their way in, Harkins soon stated: “I am f****d now, ain’t I… because of the drugs in the kitchen.”
A search went on to uncover £4,600 of cocaine.
There was also a weapon known as a push dagger, which is also called a knuckle knife.
The American-made stun gun device was seized along with several thousand Bromazolam pills – similar to Valium.
Harkins admitted at the High Court in Glasgow to being concerned in the supply of the drugs as well as possession of both weapons.
Prosecutor Ali Murray, Harkins’s lawyer Graeme Brown, and judge Lord Colbeck agreed that the rarely seen charge of having the push dagger in “domestic premises” was “novel” and “curious”.
The court heard Harkins had a number of convictions for drugs, which Mr Brown said had been an issue for the dad since he was a teenager.
Lord Colbeck went on to jail him for a total of eight years and five months.
Harkins had also been on bail at the time of the offences.
