Prescription drug round up set for Carson City

CARSON CITY, Nev. (KOLO) - Partnership Carson City is holding its annual prescription drug round up at four Carson City locations on Saturday, April 26.
“Events like the Drug Round Up are vital to keeping our community safe,” said Samantha Szoyka, certified prevention specialist and deputy director at Partnership Carson City. “By removing unused medications from homes, we reduce the risk of misuse and help prevent accidental poisonings, or accidental overdoses, especially among youth and older adults.”
The event aims to fight misuse and encourages safe disposal of harmful, unused and expired medications.
Pills, capsules, tablets, liquids and sharps in sealed containers are some of the items that will be accepted.
From 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., residents can drop off medications at:
• South Carson Savemart, 4348 S Carson Street
• North Carson Savemart, 3620 N Carson Street
• Foodmaxx, 3325 US-50
• Smith’s, 599 E William Street
The event is supported by a grant from the Bureau of Justice Assistance to NyE Communities Coalition.
