Fentanyl seized in $18K drug bust: St. Thomas police

A man is charged after police seized about $18,000 worth of drugs following a traffic stop, St. Thomas police say.

The stop happened Monday afternoon after officers spotted a man known to police riding a motorcycle, which had an unregistered licence plate, while suspended, police said.

Officers seized 32 grams of fentanyl, 17 grams of crystal methamphetamine and some Ritalin and Hydromorphone tablets, as well as $1,000 in cash, some drug paraphernalia and a flick knife and a wooden baton, police said.

A 33-year-old St. Thomas man is charged with two counts of drug possession for the purpose of trafficking, three counts of drug possession, unauthorized possession of a weapon and driving while under suspension, among other charges, police said.
