The first Wildlife Rescue Ambulance was launched earlier today – World Turtle Day – to help Nature Trust Malta in its quest to rescue and rehabilitate wildlife.
NTM said that this new ambulance cost €16,000, and was part funded by the Ministry of Sustainable Development, Environment and Climate Change (MSDEC) as part of the grant to help eNGOs.
A €10,000 grant was received by MSDEC in order to purchase the vehicle. NTM said that the remaining €6,000 was raised through donations by the public and other entities.
Also during today’s launch a memorandum of understanding was announced with the Environment Resources Authority (ERA).
The ERA will be providing NT-FEE with €30,000 to be spent on medication, veterinarian expenses and a campaign to raise awareness.
