Football: Schindel named MVP for Patriots

Senior Maxx Schindel was named the team's most valuable player at the Pequot Lakes Patriot football team's year-end banquet on Monday, Nov. 27, at Grand View Lodge. Schindel was also given the Patriot Award.

Senior Maxx Schindel was named the team's most valuable player at the Pequot Lakes Patriot football team's year-end banquet on Monday, Nov. 27, at Grand View Lodge. Schindel was also given the Patriot Award.

Austin Young and Nathan Traut shared most valuable offensive player honors, while Calvin Maske was named the most valuable player on defense.

On special teams, kicker Chase Larson - who set a school record for extra points in a season - and Tyler Manley shared most valuable honors.

Maske, Young, Schindel, Traut and Manley also earned all-Midwest Red District honors. Honorable mentions went to Blake Lane, Garrett Wolf, Zach Senst and Zach Sjoblad.

Wolf was named the team's most valuable defensive lineman, while John Urseth and Zach Senst shared the honor for the offensive line.

Dylin Ackerman and Tim Ryan were named the team's most improved players, while freshman running back and kick returner earned Scout MVP honors.

Schindel, Lane, Traut, Sjoblad, Magnuson, Sam Scheuss, Kade Kitzman and Brendan Brill were named to the all-academic team.
